Multidrug resistance protein pgp-3

Locus: CELE_ZK455.7

Wormbase description: pgp-3 encodes a transmembrane protein that is a member of the P-glycoprotein subclass of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily; with PGP-1, PGP-3 is required for defense against the pathogenic Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain PA14, and may facilitate ATP-dependent efflux of the toxic phenazine compounds produced by the bacteria; PGP-3 is also required for resistance to colchicine and chloroquine; PGP-3 is expressed in the apical membranes of the excretory cell and the intestinal cells.
